Oualidia ... little modern town!
After a short night with little sleep and having reloaded the Defender with surfboards back on the roof , we set off around 11h along the coastal road in southern direction....
Weather was overcast and cool, for driving this was perfect!
The scenery was dry and arid with short shrubs here and there, but little to no trees. The road was narrow and used by many travelers of different types: cars, buses, donkeys with or without carts, bikers and pedestrians. What we thought we would cover in distance, we only ended up doing half!
And yes, this is Africa! So take it slow....
We crossed the town by the name of Al-Jadida where many women were drying some kind of seaweed on the side of the roads, either on the sand or the pavement. They were dark reddish brown with a horrible pungent smell!!! Wonder what they use them for, either to eat or maybe to enrich their agricultural soils...
Around 16h we arrived at Oualidia, a very nice little town on the ocean with a 'modern' touch to it. We found a little hotel, settled and set off to check out the beach. Waves were small, water quite fresh.. no surf nor skimboard planned by the boys, not yet.. They are waiting for the beaches of Essaouira, I guess.
I assume you have all understood that my other blog has been hacked, unfortunately... and I was quite disappointed by this! So now that we finally had our first wifi access, I decided to create a copy of the old one with a slightly different name.
After having had our portion of local fish and shrimps I set off to update this blog with what you have just read. Let's hope this one will see the end of our trip !!!
Love to you all from a very peaceful and beautiful country named Morocco!
ma'a salaama ,( "go with peace")
ps: I'll try and add some personal photos next time! In shalah!
