FIRST NIGHT
AT ASILAH
Our first
mission was to find Dirhams. We thought we would find an automatic cash dispenser
in the newly build harbour but this wasn’t so. The nearest one turned out to be
in Tangier at 40 kms further! After having paid the toll road with euros to get
there we were able to fill our wallets and we set out to find a place to sleep
for the night.
Asilah was
the next little town on the coast and we stayed there in a little hotel in the
city-center. The friendly owner
recommended us a traditional restaurant just down the road where we had
a Chicken Tajine . The night was warm and pleasant and the centre had come
alive with people, kids & cats!
On our way
home we were witness of a traditional Moroccan marriage ceremony where the
bride was carried around the village inside a tent-like hut pulled by a donkey. Lots of men, women and children escorted her
with drums and flutes.
While the
centre was buzzing, we decided to call it a night.
